I can’t believe that only yesterday, you came home and laid my wasteland bare
with your fur lined boots and your thrift store clothes
your purple scarf and auburn hair
Your unscarred face framed by braided locks, a choker tight around your neck
you sit and stare at the coffee cup as the sun blazes on the deck

Hey Jackie, let’s fly off to the house on the border,
The sunrise, will set up all the planets in order
You’ve earned a one way ticket to distant galaxies

I saw your Daddy in the living room, with a cold one wrapped around his lips
While your mother slaved at the nursing home, where sympathy and blame was skipped
So you hung your head in the graying air, and set course for a ghost retreat
where the mud bath called and the spa spewed stream and bubbled onto silver streets

Hey Jackie, let’s fly off to the house on the border,
The sunrise, will set up all the planets in order
You’ve earned a one way ticket to distant galaxies

Well, I can’t believe the days have travelled so far
On the troubled darkened rock
But we’ve found the dry cave in the rain
through the colors we couldn’t wash off
You’re a single light in a swirl of bats
filled with rabid and venamous sin
With your sword and shield and your golden heart
you open the door and invite me in

Hey Jackie, let’s fly off to the house on the border,
The sunrise, will set up all the planets in order
You’ve earned a one way ticket to distant galaxies
